This is a ride I have been meaning to do for a while. I started at the western edge of Duck Creek Rd at Kerry just outside of Beaudesert and climbed a rough 4wd track to Green Mountain. At the top a short spin along the tarmac brought me to to O'Reillys Guest House and Mountain Cafe which was an ideal spot for lunch.
The ride involved 18km of nearly continual climbing with 1100 metres in elevation gained. Along the way there were spectacular views of the Scenic Rim and the peaks of Mt Lindsay, Mt Barney and Mt Maroon just to name a few.
After all that climbing a fleece jacket was required to ward of the chill on the long descent. Being on my own I took the descent fairly easy but it was still loads of fun with a few 'pucker' moments on the steeper sections as the bike began to slide.
All up the stats for the ride were roughly thirty six kilometres and eleven hundred metres ascent which were covered in just under five hours.
